Ways you can give:

At Triratna Edinburgh we wish to create a beautiful, diverse field of giving. We don’t charge a fixed rate for our classes or offerings. This is in the spirit of “take what you need, and give what you can.” This forms the basis for a radical economy based on trust and service, rather than profit or consumerism.

We call this the dana economy. Dana is a Pali word that means giving or generosity, and a dana economy is a radical economic model based on seeing an abundant and generous world. In this model we trust that when what we offer is given freely, that you might be moved to join us in this endless chain of generosity, by supporting us in whatever way you can. We believe this is a much more humane way of being in the world based not on what you can get, but on what you can give. This has been the main basis of how the Buddha’s teachings have been shared for over 2,500 years.

We believe that the Buddha’s teachings are priceless – we want you to feel free to give in whatever way you can, and to take what you need from what we offer.

3.12
My body, thus, and all my goods besides,
And all my merits gained, and to be gained,
I give them all away withholding nothing
To bring about the benefit of beings.
